Pacific parted ways with head coach Leonard Perry on Monday, three days before the Tigers open the West Coast Conference tournament.

In a three-sentence news release, Pacific said Perry had been "reassigned" to unspecified duties and that associate head coach Josh Newman will serve as interim head coach in the tournament. Ninth-seeded Pacific opens against No. 8 seed Pepperdine on Thursday afternoon.

Pacific went 6-25 during the regular season, 0-16 in conference play. The Tigers dropped both games to Pepperdine by a combined 34 points.

Perry went 29-65 in three seasons in Stockton, Calif. He also coached at Idaho for five seasons, compiling a 48-97 mark from 2001-06. Perry, 55, had a losing record every year as a head coach at both schools.

Pacific said a national search is underway for a new coach.
