Fresno State coach Justin Hutson said his six-year coaching stint at the school is over after the Bulldogs lost 87-75 in overtime to No. 18 Utah State on Thursday in the quarterfinals of the Mountain West tournament.

Hutson, 52, said the decision was mutual and that he will transition into a different role at the school.

"I want to express gratitude to everybody I've been around during these six years," Hutson said. "It was a lot of fun."

The Bulldogs went 12-21 this season for their second straight 20-loss campaign. They were 92-94 during Hutson's tenure. Fresno State twice won 23 games under Huston.

The ninth-seeded Bulldogs gave top-seeded Utah State a scare in Thursday's game before wilting in the extra session.
