Sam Gagner broke a third-period tie with a fortuitous goal and the visiting Edmonton Oilers claimed their 13th consecutive win with a 3-1 victory over the Calgary Flames on Saturday.

Ryan McLeod and Zach Hyman also scored for the Oilers, whose mark of a baker's dozen consecutive wins are the most by a Canadian-based team in NHL history. The 1967-68 Montreal Canadiens won 12 in a row, while the longest winning streak in NHL history is 17 by the 1992-93 Pittsburgh Penguins.

Stuart Skinner made 26 saves to win his 10th consecutive start. The win was also Edmonton's franchise-record ninth consecutive on the road.

MacKenzie Weegar scored for the Flames, who have lost two straight games. Goalie Dan Vladar stopped 29 shots in a sparkling performance spoiled by the game-winning goal.

Gagner put the Oilers ahead 99 seconds into the third with a pure luck goal. From the corner, he sent the puck to the front of the net, and it banked off a defender's stick and the glove of a startled Vladar for his fifth goal of the season.

Bruins 9, Canadiens 4

Danton Heinen recorded his first career hat trick as Boston cruised to a win over the visiting Montreal.

The Bruins scored at least twice in each period, ending the night with a four-goal third to run their point streak to eight (5-0-3). Sixteen skaters recorded points in Boston's first nine-goal effort since 2012. David Pastrnak, Brad Marchand, Charlie Coyle and Jake DeBrusk each added a goal and an assist.

Boston's Linus Ullmark made 17 saves in his first start since Jan. 9. He had been out with a lower-body injury. Cole Caufield, Joel Armia, Mike Matheson and Brendan Gallagher each scored, while Sean Monahan had three assists. Sam Montembeault allowed eight goals on 30 shots before Cayden Primeau relieved him.

Kings 2, Rangers 1

Kevin Fiala and Quinton Byfield scored goals and Los Angeles earned a much-needed victory over visiting New York to spoil the return to L.A. of goalie Jonathan Quick.

David Rittich made 22 saves for the Kings in his sixth start of the season as Los Angeles won for just the second time in its last 12 games (2-6-4).

Quick made 24 saves for the Rangers in his first start against his former team. Quick won two Stanley Cup titles in 16 seasons with the Kings and won

another after he was traded to the Vegas Golden Knights last season. Chris Kreider scored his 21st goal of the season for New York.

Canucks 6, Maple Leafs 4

Conor Garland had two goals and an assist and Vancouver defeated visiting Toronto.

Nils Hoglander also scored twice, both in the first six minutes of the game, for the Canucks. J.T. Miller and Elias Pettersson each added a goal and an assist. Quinn Hughes added three assists, Teddy Blueger had two assists and Thatcher Demko made 42 saves.

William Nylander scored twice for Toronto, while Jake McCabe and Mitchell Marner also scored. Morgan Rielly added two assists. Martin Jones stopped 15 shots for the Maple Leafs, who have lost five of six.

Lightning 3, Sabres 1

Goaltender Jonas Johansson returned to beat the club that drafted him as visiting produced its season-best fifth straight victory with a win at Buffalo.

A 2014 third-round draft pick by Buffalo, Johansson made 26 saves in his first start since beating the Montreal Canadiens on Dec. 31.

Nicholas Paul scored at even strength while Tyler Motte delivered a short-handed goal for Tampa Bay. Calvin de Haan scored into an empty net to move the Lightning to 6-2-0 this month.

Avalanche 7, Flyers 4

Logan O'Connor scored three goals, Nathan MacKinnon had two goals and two assists, and Colorado defeated host Philadelphia.

Mikko Rantanen scored two goals and Ross Colton contributed three assists for the Avalanche. Colorado goaltender Alexandar Georgiev made 36 saves.

Cam Atkinson had one goal and two assists for the Flyers, who saw their five-game winning streak snapped. Flyers goaltender Carter Hart allowed five goals on 15 shots through two periods. Samuel Ersson played the third and made eight saves.

Jets 3, Senators 1

Nikolaj Ehlers scored with 46 seconds remaining in overtime and visiting Winnipeg defeated Ottawa.

Ehlers entered the zone on the rush, eluded a defenseman and then beat Joonas Korpisalo with a backhand shot to the far side to win it. It was his 16th goal of the season. Mason Appleton also scored for the Jets, who are 18-2-2 in their past 22 games. Connor Hellebuyck made 34 saves in the opener of a three-game road trip.

Parker Kelly scored for the Senators, who finished 2-2 on their four-game homestand. Korpisalo made 27 saves. Ottawa center Josh Norris returned after missing four games with an upper-body injury and had an assist.

Golden Knights 3, Penguins 2

Rookie Brendan Brisson capped a three-goal, third-period outburst with his first NHL goal as Vegas rallied from a two-goal deficit to defeat visiting Pittsburgh.

Brisson, playing in just his third NHL game, snapped a wrist shot from the high slot past the blocker side of Penguins goaltender Tristan Jarry (26 saves) for the game-winner.

Jonathan Marchessault scored for the third straight game, Ivan Barbashev had two assists and Pavel Dorofeyev also scored for Vegas, which won its third straight. Logan Thompson stopped 23 of 25 shots. Ryan Graves and Jake Guentzel scored goals for Pittsburgh, which had a four-game point streak (2-0-2) snapped.

Stars 6, Devils 2

Roope Hintz scored twice to reach 20 goals for the third straight season, Scott Wedgewood made 29 saves against his former team and Dallas cruised to a victory over New Jersey in Newark, N.J.

Hintz scored two of Dallas' three goals in the second period and notched his fourth multi-goal game of the season to help the Stars bounce back from Thursday's 5-1 loss in Philadelphia. Joe Pavelski scored a power-play goal while Matt Duchene also scored in the second.

Jesper Bratt and Tyler Toffoli scored and Nico Daws allowed a career-worst six goals on 36 shots as the Devils fell to 1-8-1 on the second night of a back-to-back.

Blues 3, Capitals 0

Jordan Binnington stopped 18 shots for his 14th career shutout as St. Louis blanked Washington in the back half of a home-and-home series.

The Blues avenged their 5-2 loss to the Capitals on Thursday night in Washington, D.C. Brayden Schenn scored his 250th career goal for the Blues, who snapped their 0-2-1 winless streak. Colton Parayko and Jake Neighbours also scored for St. Louis and Robert Thomas had two assists.

The Blues killed off three Washington power plays and scored a short-handed goal. Charlie Lindgren made 26 saves for the Capitals, who began a four-game road trip against Western Conference teams on a sour note.

Coyotes 3, Predators 2

Clayton Keller scored twice and Connor Ingram made 30 saves as Arizona pulled out a victory over visiting Nashville at Tempe, Ariz.

Michael Carcone recorded his 15th goal and Sean Durzi had two assists for the Coyotes, who won for the second time in three home games after losing three straight there. Keller, with a team-leading 19 goals on the season and 10 points in the last seven games, registered his ninth multi-point effort of 2023-24.

Ex-Predator Ingram, meanwhile, stopped an early barrage of shots from Nashville, which managed Roman Josi's club-record 167th goal by a defenseman in the second and Tommy Novak's score. Juuse Saros made 21 saves for the Predators, who suffered just their third regulation defeat in the last 14 road games.

Sharks 5, Ducks 3

Tomas Hertl and Fabian Zetterlund each had a goal and an assist and Mackenzie Blackwood made 31 saves as San Jose recorded a win over visiting Anaheim.

Kyle Burroughs and Jan Rutta each scored their first goals of the season, and Marc-Edouard Vlasic collected San Jose's other goal. Logan Couture and Nico Sturm each had an assist in their returns to the ice. Couture was making his season debut after being sidelined by a lower-body injury, while Sturm (hand/wrist injury) had missed San Jose's previous 16 games.

The Ducks dropped to 2-8-1 in their last 11 games, despite outshooting San Jose by a 34-19 margin. Adam Henrique had a goal and an assist for Anaheim, and Troy Terry had two assists. Mason McTavish and Jackson LaCombe also scored, with LaCombe collecting his first career NHL goal.
