This image was lost some time after publication. We know that the obvious death of boxing has been thoroughly documented and dissected, but we kind of think this pretty much pushes it into the kitsch category.
Former all-world dominant boxer Roy Jones Jr., who grew so bored with his sport that he once played a semipro basketball game the day of a fight, will fight in Boise, Idaho on July 29. The night was officially supposed to be a "legends" card, with Virgil Hill and Evander Holyfield fighting, but apparently not even Idaho will give Holyfield a license.
Jones Jr., whose career has fallen through the floor in recent years, has lost his last three fights. This fight is at the Qwest Arena, which holds 5,000 people and hosts minor-league hockey games. In what has to be a first for anything ever taking place in Boise, the fight will be on Pay-Per-View.
It's worth noting, by the way, that the lead story in the Idaho Statesman right now is "High School 4A, 5A Softball All-Star Games Today." No, Roy, really, you're the King, you're on top.
